Ragtime Piles

Three weeks ago M., I. and I did a workshop "Ragtime Quilt" at the Quilter's Palet in Den Haag. We had a great day, and Evy, our instructor, showed us her Ragtime Quilts. This really is my kind of quilt... M. can perhaps translate it... It's a quilt of "lange halen, snel thuis".
The seam allowances are all cut to small strips and then the quilt is washed and put in the dryer for a ragged-effect.
Another of Evy's quilts...
The back of the quilt.

So here is the beginning of my ragtime quilt. Piles and piles of Dutch fabric. I've decided to make mine 2 meters by 2 meters, so that means 50 large blocks and 200 small ones! I've collected so many dutch fabrics that all my large blocks are made of different fabric.
Sorting the small blocks to make pairs...
Then sorting the pairs again...
And then you have 50 blocks... Now all I have to wait for is a rainy Sunday to make a nice arrangement of blocks. G.

Quilts On Walls..

M. has always said she would never make a wall hanging quilt... Quilts belong on a bed, not on a wall is her view. Luckily for little Miss T. she departed from this view and made this great wall hanger... G.

Civil War Diary Quilt... Continued

M. I. and I decided to contiue our Civil War Diary Quilt meetings every month on Tuesday night, as the course has ended now. We choose four blocks to make for next month, so here are mine...

Everyday Chores
Picket Lines
Regiment Landed
Too bad we've only left the paper piecing ones, so it's hard work for me! G.

A Bit of Holiday Fun

Another small project I did during my vacation in Germany. It's from Elizabeth's Designs. She always uses special stitches, which are very fun to do. And as I know one very special stitcher, I gave it to her... G.

Bookmarker

For my birthday, my friend B. gave me a cross-stitch pack to make a bookmarker. What a great project to take with me on holiday to Germany. I had so much fun with it! Thanks, B.!!

My Sister's Wedding

I finished this project just in time for my sister's wedding in Germany. She learnt her husband Dutch by reading books of Annie M.G. Schmidt, so it had to be one of the best known characters from her hand, Jip en Janneke. G.

Little miss T. had to wait quite some time for her top. With all the sewing and cross-stitching for the weddings finished I put this together in one evening. G.

Wedding

New dress for little Miss T. The pattern is from a Burda magazine from 1990. Her hair is braided by her aunt Mitsy. She felt like a princess.
My dress was a "handmade exclusive" too. We were at the wedding of my husband's brother at a lovely castle in Hierden.

R. on the sewing machine

Just before Mothersday, R. did a workshop punching on the sewingmachine. She was instantly bitten by the sewing-bug and went straight on to my machine, with great results! G.

R.'s new dress

This time I made a tunic and a pair of trousers for R. I'm very proud of the piping-band in the dress, made of the fabric I used for the trousers. G.

This is the short version of the pink dresses I published some time ago.
