Advent

M. and I have started making Christmas ornaments in 2004, this was my first attempt at cross-stitch, which I believed far too difficult for the likes of me. I cross-stitched two of the chair-ornaments and we made some ornaments from felt to fill this advent-board we had spotted in a magazine. We´ve tried to add new ornaments each year. However, with M. on holiday, I´m afraid this year we won´t make any new ones. But the board looks just great. I´m so glad I could get it from the attic again! G.

Just in time for Sinterklaas

Today Sinterklaas arrived, and I finished my cross stitch patterns just in time. I wanted them hanging on the wall for his arrival! My husband painted the frames chocolate letter brown and they both turned out just great (I know I called them names before, but now they are cute Sint and Piet). G.

Potholders

Do not enlarge this photo. The sewinglines are crooked and the fabric doesn't match everywhere, but this was a speedjob for a special customer. G.

Mommy's ready for Christmas too

M. and I spent another Sunday in our little sweatshop, but my Christmas skirt is finished!!
The pattern is from a back issue of Knip, that M. bought when we did not even have a sewing machine yet. She bought it for the Mart Visser evening gown in it (!!), but this "simple"skirt was quite enough work for me just now. G.

Animal Prints

Today a parcel arrived from the US with three more animal prints in it for Junior's quilt. They turned out a bit darker than on the net, but fit great with the other fabrics. I can't wait to get started!

And I couldn't resist these "German farm boys" that go great with my other Dutch fabrics. G.

Little Miss T is ready for Christmas

I'm a bit afraid to publish these photos. M. and I were supposed to work on this dress together. I just couldn't wait for her to start. Sorry, M. (But didn't it turn out great? I made so many mistakes on this one, that the next one will be perfect... This was supposed to be a one hour project. I think I put in eight or more hours... hum....) G.

Sweatshop

All these tools and still no finished skirts! G.

Progress

As you can see, Little Miss T. is very happy with the progress M. has made on her quilt. M. has added the purple borders, which was no easy task keeping the flower flowing the same way. G.

Freehand Feathers

Yesterday we discovered the wonders of our sewing machine foot. We did a workshop at Sylkamode in de Rijp and learnt how to draw with our Pfaffs. It was great! Sylvia, the teacher, taught us all about machine quilting feather forms. All we have to do now is work on getting our stitches nice and even and we can quilt anything!

And it was great to be in her shop again. I had missed browsing through the bolts of fabric. And we had a great find: fabrics for Juniors wild animal quilt. G.

Purple Blob aka Eeyore

It is about time I showed you progress on the Winnie height chart. Progress is slow... so far all I can show you is a purple blob... Eeyore is facing upwards, his teeth stuck in a branch (the two white holes on the picture are his eyes) - and all his friends will be dangling below, clinging to Eeyore's tail. Apart from Tigger who is floating in the air, hanging on to a couple of balloons.
Trouble picturing the end result from this purple blob? So have I...even while knowing what the end result will look like.

Junior Wants a Quilt!

This is just the best news of all. I've been trying to find a quilt-design my 12 year old son would like, but he threw out any idea I came up with, until..... I bought a "Burda"quilting magazine in Horst and he wanted this quilt:

So now I'll have to start looking for animal prints! G.
