Stoffenbeurs

Het Stoffenspektakel in Vijfhuizen heb ik gemist dit jaar, maar gelukkig was er vandaag een Stoffenmarkt in Delft. Vanochtend vroeg vertrokken M. en ik in de stromende regen. Daardoor was het heerlijk rustig op de markt, en met een regenjas aan was het prima te doen. Na een uurtje klaarde het op en hebben we ons prima vermaakt in de leuke stad Delft. Links boven drie paarse stoffen voor little miss T., rechts drie stoffen voor mijzelf en in het midden een "vachtje"voor een vestje voor R., al is ze daar zelf nog niet helemaal uit, of ze dat wel wil.... 

Stofjes jacht

Vandaag zijn M. en ik "even" naar Zutphen gereden om stofjes te gaan verzamelen voor onze nieuwe workshop Medaillion quilt, die in februari gaat beginnen. Boven zie je M.'s verzameling stofjes, waarvan twee "smuldoosjes"! En onder die van mij. Ik ben uitgegaan van een serie stoffen die ik al had voor een quiltje dat ik nooit heb afgemaakt, maar dat een prima basis is voor de Medaillion quilt. Wij zijn klaar voor de cursus. G.

Borderstof

Op internet ben ik altijd alert op leuke (bordeau-rode)stoffen die geschikt zouden kunnen zijn als border voor mijn Civil War Diary Quilt. Dus toen de Fat Quartershop met deze stof in een mailtje adverteerde (voor maar 5 dollar per yard) heb ik de gok genomen en drie yard besteld. En hij is perfekt! De linkerstof heb ik van M. en I. gekregen voor de cornerstones en het lijkt wel of het dezelfde distel is. Ik ben er zo blij mee. G.

Handwerkbeurs

M. and I went to the Handwerkbeurs in Rotterdam. These are our finds... On the right, the Civil War Diary Quilt fabrics. We needed some colour in our stash. On the left, Dutch fabrics, for my kaleidoscope quilt. Now that I have these, there are no more excuses not to start this quilt. G.

New Fabric

Last Friday the girls from the sewingclub and I went to Uithoorn to find new fabrics for the new series of sewinglessons. I bought this velvet for R. and plan to make it into the skirt on the picture. G.

Fabric stash

I'm working through my fabric stash, waiting for the new winter fabrics at the Stoffenspektakel in October. I bought this stripe last year, all in R.'s favourite colours. G.

Souvenirs

As I was ironing my teatowel from Bath, I thought, I'd show you my souvenirs from London. The fabric on the left I bought at a cute little quiltshop in Bath (we walked twice around it, before we found it!). The flowery fabric is from the V&A. And the last one is from the American Museum in Bath. G.

Stoffenspektakel

My mom and I went to Leiden for the Stoffenspektakel, for the new summer fabrics. From left to right, top row: Sleeping Beauty (pink satins) for Little Miss T.'s birthday (secret project!), top for R. , pink dots for both girls, summer dresses. Yellow flowers for a skirt for R. with a matching striped tricot for a shirt. Red and grey tricot for my son, who wants a shirt with his name on the back! White floral for a skirt for R. and red and white dots for matching trousers. Bottom row: shirt fabric for little old me, purple cherries for a top for little miss T. and a purple flower print for a dress. Purple for a shirt for guess who?? Blue silk for a bridesmaids dress for little miss T. In the Groenoordhallen it looked purple, sorry little miss T. Pink linen for a dress for me! Now all I have to do is make the lot! Oh, I forgot the gold organza on top, that is for curtains! Thanks for all the help, mom! Couldn't have done it without you. G.

Our Fabric Stash Is Coming Along...

Haven't we been busy gathering fabric for our Civil War quilt! There isn't a quiltshop in the Netherlands that we haven't plundered! Even the batik-queen in de Rijp had an addition to our stash! We should be able to make a great start with these! G.

Animal Prints

Today a parcel arrived from the US with three more animal prints in it for Junior's quilt. They turned out a bit darker than on the net, but fit great with the other fabrics. I can't wait to get started!

And I couldn't resist these "German farm boys" that go great with my other Dutch fabrics. G.

Freehand Feathers

Yesterday we discovered the wonders of our sewing machine foot. We did a workshop at Sylkamode in de Rijp and learnt how to draw with our Pfaffs. It was great! Sylvia, the teacher, taught us all about machine quilting feather forms. All we have to do now is work on getting our stitches nice and even and we can quilt anything!

And it was great to be in her shop again. I had missed browsing through the bolts of fabric. And we had a great find: fabrics for Juniors wild animal quilt. G.

Finally!

We've waited for over a month for the last fabrics for Little Miss T and Miss R's quilts. Don't you just hate the customs office. The other fabrics are for M.'s Triangle Traktatie quilt and she just couldn't wait for Thursday to see them... G.
