CWDQ Homework - June

Yes, I know it's August, but I haven't done my homework so far. I planned August free from homework, but now I'll have to catch up my June and July blocks. I need to keep working on this quilt, to reach my three year target. By September 2011 the Civil War Diary Quilt has to be finished. I'm still not sure how I'm going to quilt this monster-quilt, but I have a bit over six months to think about it.... G.

Last summer dress for Little Miss T.

These pictures were taken by little miss T.'s big sister. She also advised her on the professional model poses. Of course the dress is purple! I only have one dress left to finish (for R.) and I have used up all of my summer fabric. (This is one of your cute patterns, I.!) G.

Souvenirs

As I was ironing my teatowel from Bath, I thought, I'd show you my souvenirs from London. The fabric on the left I bought at a cute little quiltshop in Bath (we walked twice around it, before we found it!). The flowery fabric is from the V&A. And the last one is from the American Museum in Bath. G.

London

From June 11 till June 13, M. and I went to London. For the kids: here it is, the Big Ben!

Our first walk through London brought us to some lovely places.

But here is our main goal: The Victoria and Albert Museum for the Quilt Exhibition! After three hours in the exhibition we also visited the fashion department and the Grace Kelly exhibition. We arrived at our hotel at half past ten.

The next day, off to Bath.

On our way to the visit of the day: the American Museum. In the coach house is a quilt exhibition and in the main house many more quilts can be seen.


Of course we had to have tea and scones.

We'll have to make these Bath Buns some time too...
On Sunday we did a London Walk through the City Centre, which was great and we went back to the V&A to have a look at the samplers... Three wonderful days. G.

Skirt for Little Miss T.

It took me a while to finish this skirt for little Miss T. It didn't help that I punched an enormous hole in the side... but now the girls have matching skirts! G.

Summertime...

For those of you who think I have been asleep for the past couple of weeks.... I have made something.... easy breezy.... And, as usual, I'm working on three other projects at the same time. G.

CWDQ homework April and May

Pay and Bounty. This block is not from the "Civil War Diary Quilt"book, but from the "Civil War Love Letters"book by the same author. All three of us had a problem with the Misfortune block (which we made some months ago), it resembles a swastika. In order to have the 121 blocks I need for the quilt, I'm going to replace it with this one.

My friend B. asked me why I had posted so little on our blog. Well, this is why, I've used the May vacation to catch up on my block making. (and I also seem to be the only one posting anymore....M. is working on her Cool Diamonds quilt by Kaffee Fassett, which is turning out beautifully... I hope she will share her progress with us some time) G.

New skirt for R.

Spring has finally hit the Haarlemmermeer, so it's time to wear a new skirt. G.

Haute Couture.... dreaming away

Saturday was my birthday, and my mom and sister took me to see a great exhibition in The Hague, in the Gemeentemuseum. It was called: "Voici Paris, Haute Couture". We had a wonderful time and were surprised to see so many couture dresses in such wonderful displays. It's amazing to see the details of these exclusive dresses from so close. Thanks, C. and Mom, for a great birthday! G.

Birthday gifts

M. and I. went to Nantes for a needlework-show. And they brought me these lovely gifts. I can't wait to get started on the little veggie patch. G.

Party Dress

A bit too late for Easter.... here's little Miss T.'s party dress. For once not a purple dress, but a pink one... she looks good in either! (I: the zipper fit perfectly well!, thanks for your help!) G.

Stoffenbeurs

R. wants to learn how to sew. So we went to Hoofddorp to get some fabric and.... her new glasses.... G.

Pakketje

Zodat ik nog even door kan blijven borduren heb ik dit leuke pakketje van onze lieve vriendin A. gekocht. (zie haar website: www.quiltsalon.nl) We hebben gisteravond weer een heel gezellige avond gehad met onze borduurclub "De Drie Steekjes", en ja, we hebben onze drie steken weer gezet... G.

Eindelijk weer aan het borduren...

Ik heb een tijdlang niet geborduurd omdat ik geen echt leuk project meer had. En gelukkig was daar M. die nog een leuk patroontje had liggen... En ik ben weer heerlijk aan de slag gegaan. Bedankt, M. G.

Paas Pak voor R.

De meiden van naailes hadden hun twijfels of het zou lukken om deze tuniek en broek af te krijgen voor de pasen, maar het is gelukt!! R. poseert trots in haar nieuwe kleding. Een dag eerder waren we aan het winkelen, maar dat vindt ze toch een stuk minder leuk. "Maar mama, ik heb al een broek!". De roze stof is een hele mooie linnen-look. De tuniek heeft gekruiste bandjes op de rug. Die foto kan ik niet laten zien, want R.['s haar viel erover heen! G.
