Broccoli tuin

Op vrijdagavond zijn M. en ik weer gaan knutselen bij de Putkha. We maken hier twee keer per jaar een "groen"stuk voor buiten of binnen. Dit keer ging M. aan de bol-liaan, en heb ik gewerkt aan deze mostuin. Helaas vonden de heren het meer een broccoli-tuin en waren niet echt onder de indruk van het resultaat.... Misschien als de bollen gaan bloeien ??? G.

Na de workshop van afgelopen dinsdag ben ik weer helemaal bezig met quilten. Heerlijk! Jammer dat ik nu alweer door mijn stofjes heen ben en moet wachten tot M. de doos met stofjes weer meebrengt. Voornemen voor de komende weken: meer patchen, minder kleding naaien. Ik heb nog zoveel leuke patchwork/ quilt projectjes liggen en de Pinwheels is daar zeker één van! Het lijkt overigens wel of ik bekeerd ben tot de blauwe stofjes, maar in deze serie hoort nog een compleet rode, die ik heb uitgeleend aan M. Volgende keer gaan we weer los in het roze! G.

Pinwheels in my garden

Last night I. and I did a course at "the Stitch Cottage" in Den Haag. We started working on the "pinwheels in my garden"miniquilt. To our surpise we did the course with two sisters, who we met at the "Ragtime-quilt"course. We had so much fun! Here are my first applique pieces... G.

Measuring tape

Our friend A. gave us the pattern for this measuring tape holder (is this even a word, please, M. I need some help here..) She even made a complete package of it, with floss, charm and beads. It is so very cute and I had so much fun making it! I spent some delightful nights on the couch working on this lovely project. Thanks A. !! G.

Baby Remco

Baby Sister started this cross-stitch pattern over two years ago, but never finished it. So when she was expecting her baby, she asked me to finish it. (It has to be said, that she did the most difficult parts of the pattern and left the easy ones for me!)

And here he is, my cute little nephew, Remco. A gorgeous little boy. Such a shame he lives over 500 kilometres away from his adoring aunt.

Machine Appliqué

M. and I did a workshop at "the Stitch Cottage" in Den Haag. We learnt how to use our sewing machines for appliqué. It was really nice to discover all the possibilities of our sewing machines and how very great "vliesofix"is. Now we are all ready to start working on our McKenna Ryan Christmas quilt. G.

Stoffenspektakel, brrrrrr

This was probably the coldest Stoffenspektakel ever. It was held in the expo-hall of the Floriade, so I expected it to be nice and warm.... well, far from it! I didn't linger as long as I would have liked to for the cold, but bought enough great summer fabrics to keep myself busy for some time. Everything in the picture was 5 euros the meter.(info for my mom!) G.

Two matching blouses

I use most of my evenings to finish a cross-stitch project for my baby-sister, but Friday nights the boys watch some talentshow or other, and because of the lack of talent in these shows, I usually hide upstairs behind my sewing machine and finally got this blouse for R. done. G.

Adding the total number of blocks up to 76. Now I won't have to make any extra blocks for the next six months, and still end up with 100 by September. I'm glad M. has bought some new fabric, because we have to stay motivated for all those blocks to come. G.

Purple dress number... how many???

Little Miss T. demonstrates how she can dance in her new jersey dress. Love the fabric, was a great find by I.. The model is just a simple t-shirt dress with ruffles. Finished in 2 sewinglessons and 2 nights. G.

Blouse

Another purple clothingitem for little miss T. Because of the square neckline it took me longer than expected. The cuffs weren't very easy either, but they turned out ok. I have to make another for R. too, but I'm starting on a dress for little miss T. first. G.

Civil War Diary Quilt course, reunion

We had a reunion of our Civil War Diary Quilt-class in Haarlem.
M., I. and I are the only ones to make the entire quilt of 121 blocks. The others, though, have much more to show! Some use a dark border:

Others a lighter one (I love this fabric). Here are some very special cornerstones:

I. uses all her brown/beige fabrics for cornerstones:

And here very striking sashings are used:

Most of the group used lighter sashing, these were dyed in a teapot!

And here are two different borders around each block, very special.

Red cornerstones also do the trick.

And then, some are even finished (quilted and all)!!

This one is made by our teacher.

It was so much fun to see all these results, this really is an inspiration to start working on my own blocks again. And thanks to all these different sashings, cornerstones and borders, I now have some idea of what I'd like to do myself. G.
